Growing up in the small town of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Michael learned to play guitar, piano and harmonica in living-room jam sessions with his family playing old Tom Paxton, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash songs.

He started writing songs when he was 12 years old. After high school, he spent a year touring in the US and Canada playing shows in prisons before heading to Nashville to attend university.

After graduation, he signed with Combustion Music and traveled through Spain, Italy and France where he wrote many of the songs that would become his debut album.

He is now signed with Nettwerk Music/Moraine Music.
